Smeg is delighted to receive two prestigious awards at the 13th annual Designer Kitchen & Bathroom Awards
On Wednesday 11th November, members of the Smeg team travelled to central London for the 13th annual Designer Kitchen & Bathroom Awards. Held at Supernova in Embankment Gardens, home of the Brits after party, the awards recognise and reward the very best in kitchen and bathroom design talent. The day event, presented by Countdown’s Rachel Riley, was well attended by key industry influencers and despite facing strong competition, Smeg won two excellent awards.
The first award was for Innovation in Design (Kitchen Products). The Smeg SF4140MC Linea Microwave Oven was the well-deserved recipient for its sleek and intuitive design. The beautiful appliance follows in the footsteps of the touch control SFP140 Linea Oven in the same range, which also won a Designer Award in 2014.
Smeg’s second award of the day was the penultimate category, created to pay tribute to some of the landmark designs which have helped to shape kitchen or bathroom design thinking. The Design Classic award was given to our range of 50’s style FAB fridges because they have cemented a place in the market as a true one off. Designer Magazine’s Editor, Martin Allen-Smith said the fridge has become a cultural icon in our homes.
Over recent years we’ve seen a huge shift in design trends where our consumers are not just opting for wall decoration and furniture to style their spaces. They are instead opting to create hero focal points, and accessorise and experiment with splashes of colour through appliances, be it our built in Victoria ovens and cookers, Small appliances or the 50’s style range. With the range ever expanding into new product categories, colours and sizes, one thing is for sure – the iconic fridge is here to stay.
As an organisation, we are truly passionate about design, style and every single detail. We’re delighted and humbled that our products have been recognised for such important awards, alongside other iconic brands, in shaping kitchen and bathroom design. We survive and thrive on being different and the iconic FAB epitomises our ‘Made in Italy’ culture. We couldn’t ask for more.
