At the Chicago Athenaeum, the winners of the prizes for the best design products conceived and created for the consumer were announced, on the occasion of the Good Design Awards 2017.
Selected by an international jury of architects, designers and creative directors, Smeg and its products beat off competition from more than five hundred companies to win the coveted prize for excellence in design and innovation.

Specifically, the Smeg appliances that earned the company this prestigious award were the Dolce Stil Novo blast chiller, the 60cm and 45cm oven from the Linea range, the 90cm free-standing Opera cooker with the new cavity. These ground-breaking products were commended for their refined aesthetic and extraordinary technological innovation in the field of home appliances.

These products were accompanied by the HBF02 hand blender, the CJF01 citrus juicer and the ECF01 espresso coffee machine from the 50’s Style range.

The Good Design Awards is one of the most prestigious and internationally-recognised events of its kind, and is organised annually by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, founded in 1950 in Chicago by designers and world-renowned architects Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames and Edgar Kaufmann Jr.

For more than 70 years, Smeg has worked tirelessly to combine aesthetics and technology, creating appliances that offer both style and functionality, establishing the brand as a pinnacle of excellence on the international scene. Smeg’s achievements have also been recognised by a number of leading awards, including - for the seventh consecutive time - the Good Design Awards.
