At the Chicago Athenaeum, the winners of the prizes for the best design products conceived and created for the consumer were announced, on the occasion of the Good Design Awards 2018.
Selected by an international jury of architects, designers and creative directors, Smeg and its products beat off competition from more than five hundred companies to win the coveted prize for excellence in design and innovation.

Specifically, the Smeg appliances that earned the company this prestigious award were: the 120cm free-standing Portofino cooker with double cavity, the wine cooler from the Linea range, the vacuum drawer, the new built-in coffee machine and the Dolce Stil Novo oven.
These ground-breaking products were commended for their refined aesthetic and extraordinary technological innovation in the field of home appliances.
These products were accompanied by: the TSF03 toaster and the DCF01 drip coffee machine from the 50’s Style range.

The Good Design Awards is one of the most prestigious and internationally-recognised events of its kind, and is organised annually by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, founded in 1950 in Chicago by designers and world-renowned architects.

For more than 70 years, Smeg has worked tirelessly to combine aesthetics and technology, creating appliances that offer both style and functionality, establishing the brand as a pinnacle of excellence on the international scene. Smeg’s achievements have also been recognised by a number of leading awards, including - for the eighth consecutive time - the Good Design Awards.
